The Sea Remembers Me
Red snapper buoyed on the coastal Gulf—
a table flare on Christmas Eve,
glitter under the water's stained-glass.
He speaks to me in reefs and rocky altars,
kisses my toes, swallows me whole,
I am both devoured and afloat.
Dissipating into coral relics and liturgy,
a tide in reverse, a baptism undone.
