Reined In

Every move you make is a metaphor
Fogging up the shower glass
Every word you speak breaks the third wall
Sincerely level and apropos
To elicit their active participation
Their sense of ownership
With only a hint of indifference
On your tongue

You try to rein it in
Lips pursed and wrinkled
Tongue tip pressed hard against
Canines and molars
To keep it from escaping
A stent to relieve the pressure
From that wooly lack of faith
In yourself
