On the Parapet
I stand on the parapet, at the edge of her
pride.
Here, only prayer is allowed — even
into the damp chill. Remarkable it
would be — to be known as a
hostage. Acceptance is dangerous —
it erases the value of honesty.
Feelings like toxins — likened to the
stubborn habit.
Attempts to return to the circle of
familiar events now appear
awkwardly out of place
Drown in someone else's eyes, but in
my embraces — so it will be
deserved.
