Maryanne Hannan
Fenestration
(haibun)
She kneels in the damp, dark church. Heavy, leaded, three-tiered stained glass windows—too high. Cobalt blue lost to age-mellowed black. The clerestory memorials, spirits long gone from collective memory. Thick masonry walls, for better or worse. Incense trails the All Souls' Day procession. Not a single head looks up.

Bio
A resident of upstate New York, Maryanne Hannan has published haibun and short poetry in Citron Review: A Journal of Brief Literature, drifting sands haibun, and the now defunct but aptly named publication, Short, Fast and Deadly. She discovered the prose poem several years ago and has been whittling them down ever since.
