Our Life with Other Animals
We would turn our shoes over and tap them to dislodge any scorpion that
might have crawled in to spend the night. As for the mice, there is this to
say: they made a virtue of tight places and left us alone although they did
expect us to clean up after them. The spiders perfected weaving and
decorated the living room. Our hatred of the mosquitos almost
overwhelmed us, but the monkeys that broke into the refrigerator were a
distraction. We talked about getting a dog but could never agree on a
breed so named the possum under the porch Spot. It looks like the parrot is
going to inherit everything.
