Virna Chessari is an Italian, History and Latin and Greek teacher at a high school in Palermo. She is the author of the poetic collection "The Ulysses Butterfly La farfalla di Ulisse", Passerino Editore in Italian and English, the novel "I Finsword. L'alba dei Purosangue", Capponi Editore and the collection of Fables "Il Favolfiore. Favole per crescere", Pietro Vittorietti Editore in Italian.

She has been published in newspapers, magazines (Straylight Magazine, Blue Lake Review, Arba Sicula, Cardinal Sins, Triggerfish Critical Review) and cultural websites. Dendrochronology

These thoughts come out on their own,
dowsers.
It's not me who evokes them.
They tell me about a dream away and an unknown journey through the roots of a crooked tree
that knows the sky and the earth

"No! The past cannot return", whispers to me the wind through the curled leaves.
"Seek the beauty and the colors,
the red and the orange of the strong migrant with the silk wings, that lands and then flies away.
Once it was a voracious caterpillar and now it is a fast and free butterfly.
Everything else is a tangle, gnarly and rough skin that absorbs and breathes"

We are sap and bark, a wooden book with telltale ring scars.
