On the Beaufort Scale
Air weaves around me, gusts and bursts
invisible and strong, that force me to curl
my body along sidewalks.
I huddle drunk and stumbling:
wind's boots kick empty garbage cans
shoot plastic bags airborne, humble slim trees
wind's fingers rake dead leaves, un-comb my hair
uplift my skirt. Wind scurries away
hand un-slapped.
