A Wounded Poem
To be a reluctant party
in a war is a shriek in silence
either you'll kill
or you'll be killed
whether you want
or you don't,
you're a bubble
you'll have to burst out
blood drips in a war
but humming-birds pluck
a wounded poem left on a dry twig
longing for a spring
after a long night.
