Daniel Chan Yee Ann was one of the first participants selected for Singapore's Center 42's writing residency called Boiler Room. His writing has been published in a Trans-Genre Press anthology and Sky Island Journal. He's currently attending to a chronic illness.

where reason crosses
over to fumigate wonder.
Wanting to witness
the birth of a hatchling,
do you then break the egg?
Must there be a sun
for you to look into
in order to know it is day?
Practise then
your sidelong glance,
until the time that you see
the whole of the world as it is
shining inside
a pair of bright blue galoshes—
only then.
