Joshua St. Claire
The Spindle
(Triolet)
If I pricked myself upon a spindle,
Mother said that our kingdom would be cursed
With dreamless sleep. All our lands would dwindle,
If I pricked myself upon a spindle.
No princeling prick could slake my nightish thirst,
So I pricked myself upon a spindle.
Best be damned! Now I rule a kingdom—cursed.
