waking on the commute
still on the bus
discover the alarm clock
dusty roads bite at my eyes
cemented to the pillow
rattle of voices demanding attention
newly washed
smell of abandoned sleep
the station's rush and clench
catch the weight of the empty room
half-way from Edinburgh
the shade of morning as you go
gaze at the Bings
passenger behind me humming
the sunlight pushed down I burrow deeper
lost in this bed without you
