Talking through Rainstorms

Rain washes over windows,
constant, alluring.

Rare thunder disturbs our sleep.
Faces pressed to the glass,
storms could shake our foundations.

Breaking each other into devourable pieces;
lips, hands, necks,
we roll them over the warmth of our tongues.

Whispered words drop well-worn,
falling onto night, water over stones.

Lightning stitches the sky silver-blue.
Liquid silence, you descend lead-weighted
through layers of silted dreams,

leaving me stranded on the shore.
