A Pushcart nominee, Lana Bella is an author of two chapbooks, Under My Dark (Crisis Chronicles Press, 2016) and Adagio (Finishing Line Press, forthcoming), has had poetry and fiction featured with over 280 journals, 2River, California Quarterly, Chiron Review, Columbia Journal, Poetry Salzburg Review, San Pedro River Review, The Hamilton Stone Review, The Ilanot Review, The Writing Disorder, Third Wednesday, Tipton Poetry Journal, Yes Poetry, and elsewhere, among others. Night Watch
where the fontanelle pulsed
between pale anklebones of dusk,
you left the back porch sky
wept down the thresher wheat,
far indigo globed with seared
clefts of shadows sprung, spotted
fawns skimmed too low on
the pinned up lake,
peach daffodils grew where
the thruway once sharply turned,
angling back to catch your somber
wake, a loneliness always near,
until the moss-haloed pines
flushed hollows of pink asters fine,
you lifted wings with soft cotton
dress, a pair of arms in flying stars–
