She told me she'd seen a lot of hotel room ceilings
in her twenties
some were stuccoed, others painted
a few had chandeliers
there was crown moulding
coffered borders
wallpaper edges
Some were wide and spacious
flawless and smooth
others had faults of tiny spiderwebs
none of them, however
had any answers
Bio
Daniel Ames is a poet living and working in Detroit, Michigan.
His first book of poetry, FEASTING AT THE TABLE OF THE DAMNED, was a semi-finalist in the
GoodReads Choice Awards for Best Books of 2011.
