Editor's Note

Welcome to Shot Glass Journal #13. We began the journal four years ago to give a home to the short poem, and its reception in the poetry world has been remarkable.

Issue #13 continues to be a diverse issue with international poets from Australia, Canada, France, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Kenya, Nigeria, New Zealand, Philippines, Romania, Turkey, and the UK. It also includes poetry translations. The US poets featured in this issue come from sixteen different states.

Shot Glass has always encouraged both free verse and formal verse poems which are included in this issue, as well as a segment from a verse novel, and a new form for the Glossary - the Sonnenizio. With the belief that a new poet has to start somewhere, this issue includes first-time published poets, emerging poets and the richness of voice from well-established poets.

Each September Shot Glass Journal features a particular country or region. This coming September, Shot Glass Journal Issue #14 will feature Canada. Most importantly, and for the first time since we've started this journal, we will have a Guest Editor, Donna Gagnon. Donna lives in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada and is a published writer of poetry, short fiction and plays. She was a Muse-Pie Press' Featured Poet International in 2011. We welcome Donna and look forward to the September issue.

We hope you enjoy this current Issue #13 of Shot Glass Journal.
