The Promise

We'll sail a small boat on the lake
and I will steer so you may sit.
When fifty years trail in our wake,
we'll sail a small boat on the lake.
The wave of time about to break
shall fill the vessel we two fit.
We'll sail a small boat on the lake
and I will steer, so you may sit.
