Ron Riekki has published U.P. (Ghost Road Press), How To Kill Yourself with a Gun and a Bottle of Pills (Original Works Publishing), She Took God (Gypsy Daughter Chapbooks), and The Way North: Collected Upper Peninsula New Works (upcoming May 2013, Wayne State University Press). His fiction has been Pushcart nominated, his poetry has been Best of the Net nominated, and his play Carol is upcoming in The Best Ten-Minute Plays 2012.

I waited a moment to be sure. Yes,
many people have died in that building.
The thickening of the snow at the center
of my body. The Chinese are like Vulcans,
you say. I have eviscerated my arm.
We counted twenty crippled children
on Anyuan alone. Why do the prostitutes
all wear black? They are in mourning.
This would be a good time to run.
