Caviar Spoon
A spoon more precious than the eggs
that fill it to the brim
made of milky mother of pearl
with diamond and ruby trim
The ebony handle is crowned with gold
as a queen's sceptre would be
You savour the salty tang of love
from the depths of the Caspian Sea
I could give you a pendant to circle your throat
or an emerald to nest in your hair
but have chosen a gift of exquisite taste
to have, to hold and to share
