Daniel Klawitter
Writing A Poem Before My Wife
Gets Out Of Bed On The Weekend
I have devoured the heart of the morning.
It was red and rich…a sun-drenched tomato.
Then I ate the crumbs of the hours before noon,
Softened with the milk of marvelous minutes
And crushed by the spoon of due diligence.
But all this time you have been sleeping!
The day has practically vanished.
Evening is for the insomniacs—
Sunrise is for the famished.
