Bio
Laurice Gilbert is the President of the New Zealand Poetry Society, as a result of randomly making eye contact with someone important at an Annual General Meeting. She is still working on her first collection, which she planned to launch in December 2011 but missed that deadline. Maybe March, maybe not. She has four daughters, none of whom are poets, though one did once win an international poetry competition with a fridge magnet poem.

Portrait of the Artist
after E E Cummings
Vincent Van Gogh poor and mad
who used to drink absinthe into the night
alone
paint peasants prostitutes sunflowers
starry starry night by all that's holy
he was a colourful man
and what I want to know is
how can I find such passion as that
and live
