Hillary Lyon
Word Game
letters unscramble and fall across
the grid before you frets
on a rhythm guitar simple strokes
say enough:cawwedclawweld
how many points for revealing
truths for opening an old bag
for scattering all the uncut stones across the table
how many points for understanding
what went wrong what tiles should never
be lined up what words should never be
allowed to leave the walled garden
of the player's mind sweep
your hand across the board the alphabet takes flight
the window is open the letters have been released
each becoming an angry bee a golden rage to be admired
a sweet swarming buzz to be pursued
