Ron Scully
Linked Ghazal
Damn I am not hardly the English teacher from Des Moines with the three kids and a loving wife
who coaches soccer Saturday morning and is assistant deacon in the Church Of Eternal Life.
Neither am I the CPA who cheated on his taxes and only wife and had a stroke on the back 9,
who put up his mortgage against Sunday's point spread and lost the last best bet of his life.
Never have I set foot in Church Falls or Goshen or Troy or even heard of Elgin Illinois
and was never a warehouse manager for 25 years or commission rep for Mutual Life.
Nor do I see myself as the biker with the chrome grill and sin black leather skin and buckles
where all the broken joints should be from the crack up that cost him within an inch of his life.
Its no surprise the opportunities do not list cat burglar, jokerman, or homeless vet,
or the defrocked priest who shares a cell with the night watchman sentenced to life.
Whoever these people are who share my namesake, I could have been anyone of them
had I been born in their space and time, their weight and height, their shadow, and lived their life.
I could have been but I am not. Whoever I am I have survived being a stranger to myself.
To date I am; a tourist, a trader, houseguest and in the end an outpatient in my own life.
Bottom line: I was born into a poem, the breach of a song, my first word my last.
My c.v.'s my obit, opportunities to miss, overqualified for the time of my (next) life.
Bio

He practices haikai daily and has published widely in short form journals. To date he has published 7 chapbooks, the latest of which is The Roundhouse Clock published by Yavanika Press. Occasionally he publishes a lyric piece, but only when given. Currently he is working on a play. Otherwise, he has grandkids to keep the neurons firing.
