The Solitary River

This river has no name.
Through unfamiliar earth it flows on,
bearing the dust of faded seasons,
its body woven of silent currents.

The grasses along the banks
still remember the footprints
of those
who never return.

A bird crosses the quiet sky
and disappears into the infinite,
as though it had
never been.

Yet, the river keeps flowing-—
not toward the sea,
but toward a memory
no one can hold.
