Dane Karnick
Coffee Table
The storage chest by the couch
Has ignored CDs and books
Memories packed away
In reach of snooping fingers
Which could page through
All the inner thoughts
Of Emily Dickenson or
Travel via Out of Africa
But there are photo albums
Stashed at the bottom
With old pictures of Dad
From his drinking days
When his right fist had
Too much to say to Mom and me
Years that lay in the dark
Smooshing AM and PM
