Steven O. Young Jr.
Unplowed Roads
My dad knows too many people
dying for him to handle
my sister leaving
another call unanswered,
another request for happiness
in knowing his grandkids
are okay while trying
to convince them
he can say the same
left without a word
spoiled by cellular static,
haunting echoless rings
heavier than any ghost
snowing over his hair.
