Passing By
The transit of Venus puts into perspective
How short my life spans the journey of space.
Since I paid it no mind in two thousand and four,
Nor in twenty twelve,
I will have missed it forever,
As I will have returned to the stars
When it next transits in twenty-one seventeen.
Instead of acting in the moment
I can only imagine instead
All the things I let pass me by
In transit to my receding memories
