Bio
I whakapapa back to the Māori tribes Ngati Awa, Ngati Porou, Ngai Tuhoe, Ngati Paoa & Ngati Kahungungu ki Wairarapa. I am an indigenous queer poet from Aotearoa, New Zealand, and I thank you and appreciate you all for reading my work!

Older
give me the wrinkles on my forehead,
the beautiful silver sewn in my hair
give me the faded brown scars,
the lines upon my stomach and thighs
give me the brittle bones,
the saggy skin.
give me the no-nonsense attitude,
the "old-school" humor
give me the blurry vision and the toothless smile,
the mokos for me to smother and spoil
give me the best baking skills in the whole world,
the false teeth and Māori wisdom
give me the old cat to keep me company,
the whānau by my side
give me the blessing of growing older,
older.
