Unhear the gales

Salt welters unsettled on the waves,
a bland shoreline all but ducks away. Ducks
on a pond in the hinterland. From the pool
of your seaside holiday abode, you can almost
sense the entirety of it. Impossible
to fill up an ocean, that vast thing sailors call
the Drink. So you keep filling up yourself
with the gargle until you cannot unhear
onshore gales full-throatedly whispering a name.
