Ray Malone is an Irish writer and artist living in Berlin, Germany, working on developing a highly-reduced aesthetic in a series of projects exploring the expressive (lyric) potential of minimal forms, based on various musical and/or literary models. His work has been published in numerous print and online journals in the US, UK and Ireland.

this is stillness, this space
set before me, clean as a slate
a tidy mind might prefer to frame,
as a memory, monument
to a dead thing, a grey other
of time, written and erased,
and left at that, a silence to be tapped
for its imperfection, for the dull tone
of its presence, the blank of being there
still, remainder of ages,
so, why would I stir from here, try
my hand, at interrupting its moment,
to hold on to what slips from me,
slides, erased away, with the attempt
