Arvilla Fee
Breakthrough
Beneath a slab-gray sky,
lashes wet with icy mist,
I curse the winter claws
still latched on to spring.
It's the linger season—
a bad ex you just can't shake.
I've almost resigned myself
to a six-month prison stint
when I see a daffodil, stiff
and resolute, a canary
in the snow.
