I am Chopin's Nocturne when the world's at ease outside the window,
I'm the bookshelf behind me,
Filled with closed books, all read and re-read and not read at all.
I'm the cigarette I last smoked before I called it a day last year,
I'm the drink I drank, half drunk on the couch,
Swelling my stomach as I look up to the ceiling,
I'm the memories drifting by, like clouds in the yellow stains,
My past insomnia caught up in the shapes,
I'm the silence I heard when I wasn't listening,
I'm these words I write when nobody's read them.
