Michael N. Thompson
Motel Eyes
The motel has eyes
That penetrate
Paper-thin walls
With relative ease
And witnesses the shame
Of guilt-ridden lovers
Who stray like lambs
From neglectful shepherds
Spinning wheels
In the name of inertia
Until centrifugal force
Leads to laments
And the sheepish transgressors
Crawl in between shadows
Even though the shades are drawn
