John A. Mills
Dad and Scheherazade
He gave me an LP.
I was about 10.
It was Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade
I was too young to know classical music.
But I listened to it - it was from my dad
It was beautiful and I fell in love with Scheherazade
I don't know why he gave it.
Maybe I did once.
He was a mystery.
He was cold, a misanthrope.
But he wanted to share it - he didn't listen with me.
Fifty years later,
I'm still in love with Scheherazade
