September
It's September tomorrow, I heard someone say
In passing below the Cathedral, standing sentinel
Amongst the broken walls and coal seams above the riverbank.
I love how words invoke feelings.
Do we share September?
That notion of time.
The year falling towards winter,
As autumn's honesty
Creates beauty through transparency.
Chestnuts drop from a height, split against the pavement,
Like memories crouching against your train of thought
As you lurch towards sentiment,
Leaves bristling underfoot, the rain thrumming the trees.
