Foundations
It's my son's birthday
I don't ask if he's heard from his father
Like I didn't ask his sister
If she'd heard from hers
Knowing
They're different men
Not so different
Does this requirement
For resilience
Strengthen
Or is it salt in the cement?
Towering and upright, they shrug
I note this but keep my post
At their feet, listening for
Cracks
