Narayan is a writer, performance-maker, and scholar, currently serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. His writing has appeared in AZURE (3:4, and 4:3), The Caravan, J-CASTE, The Hindu, and Fountain Ink, and is forthcoming from The High Window, while his theatre work has been staged in India, the UK, and the US.

Walking along the crowded
vegetable market in
Cochin, by the canal,
centuries-old and black,
now serving only as

a breeding ground for mosquitoes,
she, an airy Mexican with
a dream to her, said, referring
not to the sweaty sex we had
two hours before in a posh suite

overlooking the backwaters,
but rather, the
one time, she had concluded,
unknowably, that my
parents ever did it,

"That was a glorious fuck."
