Janet Wainscott
Tiny
A child on the plains
far from anywhere, defined
by distance real and imagined –
the earth unrolled
all around her, a patchwork carpet
stitched together with pine
and gorse. She felt so tiny
in all that emptiness, and wanted
to fly beyond the horizon
to where she would never
feel tiny again.
