Antedeluvia
Is the unguarded tongue sinful, when soul
fails to find a reconciling pattern
for what prayers cannot resolve?
The serpent is always present in whatever
unalterable origins; the grotto of ghost paths
where the larval host cracks out of its enclosure.
But there is a place, I know, where silk leaves burst
into always present, evanescent green,
and, deciduous though they are, remain constant.
