Sarah Russell
At The Beauty Salon
I lean back and close my eyes
as a young woman washes my gray,
thinning hair. She massages in
the shampoo, gently rubs my temples,
smooths the cream rinse—scented
with jasmine—from my brow, and you
are here with me again that summer day
under the waterfall.
