Losing Your Hyoid Bone
Feel for your hyoid bone—
it's like a balloon resting on air,
there are no tracks and a ladder won't help.
Keep your lips puckered like drinking
from a bottle that will warm you.
Push the clock dial forward
to remind yourself that time is like
your hyoid bone—a band of light
to burn your retinas back
to the blue you were born with.
