Lisa Alexander Baron
Feeding Snowbirds
Juncos:
black-and-white flecks
flickering in and out of this scraggly hedge,
then scouting and scratching
the cold ground for seeds
sprinkled in early-light.
Rays of sun like thin ribbons
weaving among their small, hustle-
bustle forms, their dark eyes
darting, their just being
despite this freeze, this harshness
incapable of a name.
