Beach Pool

Your great waves came rolling in and left me
as part of yourself in the sand.

I shrank with children who had to protect their castles.
I grew with their tears.
I'm just not a part of you anymore.

With one crash you could reach out and take me back again
but let me sparkle in my own sun
let me gather and wash my own pebbles
let me see what can live in me.
