Good Advice
In the book on writing
the author tells me
to be clever and original,
and not use shopworn images
and metaphors –
in other words,
"avoid the pedestrian" –
and it occurred to me
that's good advice
for driving too.
Bio
Bruce W. Niedt is a beneficent bureaucrat from southern NJ whose poetry has appeared in Writer's Digest, Writers' Journal, The Lyric, Tilt-a-Whirl, Chantarelle's Notebook, Mad Poets Review, and many others. His awards include the ByLine Short Fiction and Poetry Prize, first prize for poetry at the Philadelphia Writers Conference, and a Pushcart Prize nomination. His latest chapbook is Breathing Out, published by Finishing Line Press.
