Jennifer Renee
The Woolf
We only think we are far flung,
From the waves of woman lined
Up in the streets. Our grandmother's
Unafraid to speak too loud, think too
Much, chop hemlines and burn corsets.
Our mothers retold the stories, held high
And hollering for a quarter and a ballot.
When wrinkled men make laws, the streets
Should swell with the screams of
Protest. Do not let them circumcise you
And fill your womb. This is still your living room.
