Not Waving but Drowned Out
Billie not only sang from the heart, but from the soul.
She sang out her soul,
Giving them all she had, so they could feel the weight of the past
Bearing down deep within the cavern of their minds,
Where their thoughts echoed with the sense that,
Beneath the surface, something wasn't right,
Them sitting out front watching her centre stage,
Having been smuggled in from the back,
Concealed in the darkness,
Crying out to them all,
As they listened and smiled,
Her silence drowned out by the applause,
Like hands waving from a deck.
