Umbra
Sunlit worlds are pretty, but
In every town and city
Lie, those shadow lairs—
Dark with spots of emerald.
Here, haunting places are rare.
But there might be a nook
In some quaint, demure park
Where the twittering of birds
Are the only words ever spoken. There!
There I find that whimsical delight,
My liberation in fading twilight.
Gold-gray dust in Brownian pirouette
Performs a serenade in the glade
Around me.
It's funny how those darkest corners
Somehow set you free.
