Evening in the Livingroom
The small circle we make for ourselves
under the reading lamp is a fixed
point. Sitting in his armchair, he
packs the bowl of his pipe with
the tarry earth pinched between
his thick thumb and forefinger.
Words do not enter our ring, they
hover at the perimeter for now
and we stay like this until one day
I will leave, dissolving like
the wreathes of smoke around our heads.
