Aggravated robbery of commonsense

Winter turns up at the Great Door with
A horrific warm swampy wind, people
Peeling off clothes, discontent with the
Unformulated sheets of plummy feathery swabs of
Gauzy smothering, an unsolicited bringingness, and
With wood collected on the hearth, storm shutters on windows,

Rioting youth throwing
Plastic water bottles at sundry TV forecasters, the
Loose-jawed getting drunk and chasing dogs, elders
Panting, pointing, labelling everything a sign,

All is lividness and sweat and
High-pitched telling of tales, a gunshot,
Children running feverishly, adults are confused,
Crying infants incapable of understanding what it is to be
Ravaged and consumed by the
Aggravated robbery of commonsense.
