Wind Notes

The wind blusters
lording it over small squalls
pretending it can shatter windows
or blow washing off the line

The wind howls
like a tethered dog in the night
I sense the pain of confinement
its pent-up desire to destroy

The wind whistles and cajoles
to excuse its unruly behaviour
and to once more act as my muse

The wind buffets
forcing the air from my lungs
counting me out in a prize fight
until the trees steady
and calm descends
