Thin Threads

Smooth sands of silence
Stir in our ears, and our hands
Reach through currents for another,
Across blaze incrusted lands

Where the sun lays its oily sheen
Over the waves of the sea,
Enclosed, in its horizon's edge,
The prisoners of history

That float through the ages
Tailored to wayfaring unfurled –
We are, you and I,
Mere thin threads to this world
